The government of India, though, has taken note and has prepared a bill aiming at regulating experiments on animals by institutions and individuals.
The proposed Animal Welfare Act, 2011 talks of a committee for the purpose of control and monitoring of experiments on animals. The committee, needs to consist of a number of officials and non-officials and representatives from Central Zoo Authority, the Veterinary Council of India and members of animal welfare organizations, who will guarantee that the experiments are carried out with "due care and humanity".
