Experts from the University of NSW and Sax Institute have reiterated the benefit of the mandatory helmet legislation in Australia.

The rate of head injures have dropped by 29% after the legislation came into effect.
"What we found provides compelling evidence that the legislation has served its purpose in reducing bike-related head injuries and any repeal of the laws would only put lives at risk," Dr Jake Oliver, author of the study.
Some researchers argue that mandatory helmet use actually deter cyclists from riding, which is not the purpose of the helmet legislation.
For the many who support the legislation, there are as many who oppose it; in the scenario, it is important for everybody to get the facts right about helmet use which gives maximum protection against head injuries.
