
The governments of Indian states, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh have ordered tests on the samples of Maggi in wake of reports that monosodium glutamate and lead in excess of the prescribed limits were detected in the noodles, it was announced on Wednesday.
The Hyderabad-based Institute of Preventive Medicine (IPM) collected 22 samples from different districts of Telangana and is testing them at its lab in Nacharam on the city outskirts
"After receiving the results and looking into contents, if we find the samples don't conform to food safety norms, we will take action," said Telangana Health Minister C. Laxma Reddy.
The government in neighboring state of Andhra Pradesh has also ordered tests on the samples of Maggi.
