Those who have high levels of high-density lipoproteins (HDL), or “good” cholesterol, are at a lower risk of suffering from bowel cancer

Researchers analyzed more than 520,000 people who took part in the European Prospective Investigation into Cancer and Nutrition (EPIC) study and found that those who had low levels of HDL were at a greater risk of suffering from bowel cancer.
The researchers also suggested a number of different ways of boosting the HDL levels such as frequent exercise, reducing weight and quitting the cigarettes.
