Danish researchers have reported that there is no increased risk of having brain tumor associated with cell phone users.
The researchers had taken data from 427 people with brain tumors and 822 healthy people about their use of cell phones. The study participants had to go through a medical check-up including Mini-Mental State Examination, and radiological examinations. Most people were heavy users of cell phone who had been using the cell phones for more than 10 years.The people in the study had recalled their cell phone usages almost accurately, making it obvious that cell phone usage in no way hampers the functioning of the mental facilities of the users The results of the study showed that there is no significant growth of tumors in the side of the head where the users most typically attached to cell phones to. This result was independent of the frequency of cell phone use, the duration of use, or the number of years cell phone had been used. Thus the researchers are of the opinion that there is no conclusive proof that use of cell phones increases the risk of brain tumors.
The research report is published in the April issue of the journal Neurology.
