CCTV Footage Handed to Police in Newborn's Death in Chandigarh

It has emerged that the UT police have receive CCTV footage from Government Multispecialty Hospital, Sector 16 (GMH-16) to probe into the death of a newborn recently.

The probe was ordered after it was alleeged that a pregnant woman was denied timely care causing her new born baby to die. Eyewitnesses to the incident have revealed that the baby dropped to the floor and died while a blood test was being done on the woman.

Medical superintendent Rajeev Wadhwera said the patient and her attendant were asking for directions and hence there was a delay for 15 minutes, "We have asked the staff and an eyewitness regarding this wastage of time," he said, adding that they needed the statements of the patient, named Bulbul and her husband.

The CCTV footage shows that the patient and her husband kept wandering after which she entered a laboratory to get blood tests done where she gave birth and the baby died.
