CBI Books Two More Doctors for Falsifying Records

by Kathy Jones on Jul 17 2010 9:05 PM

Dr DK Gupta and Dr JS Dhupia, Safdarjung hospital's two senior doctors, have been booked by the CBI for faking records in order to get approval for a private medical college in Indore.

The two doctors were supposedly involved in this conspiracy along with unidentified officials of the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The two doctors allegedly fudged records to get approval from the Health Ministry after the Medical Council of India (MCI) had already denied permission to start the second batch of the college.

"On the day of inspection, false records were created, regarding the availability at the time of inspection and employment of doctors as college faculties, which became the basis for the grant of permission by the Ministry," said CBI's press information officer RK Gaur.

Dr Gupta and Dr Dhupia okayed eligibility criteria of the college although MCI gave a negative rating. The CBI feels the docs, MCI and ministry officials were acting according to a plan to first deny permission and then take bribes to give it.
