British Guitarist Ronnie Wood Undergoes Surgery for Hernia

Rolling Stones star Ronnie Wood was compelled to undergo a surgery, after giving himself a hernia while performing onstage.

The British guitarist hurt himself during the group's Bigger Bang Tour, which ended in August 2007.

The 60-year-old didn’t give much heed to the stomach pains until his conditioned worsened and he was finally diagnosed with a hernia.

But even then he refused to undergo surgery, as he did not want to spoil the holiday season, and thus postponed the operation until last week of the Christmas festivities.

"He doesn't know exactly the moment it happened, just that it happened while he was on tour and that it got progressively more uncomfortable,” Contactmusic quoted Wood’s spokeswoman, as saying.

"He waited until after Christmas to have the operation last week and is now resting," she added.

"He is now at home recovering and feeling well," a statement on the guitarist's MySpace Internet page, said.
