A 10-year old boy in England who was missing a part of his ear has been fitted with a new one after doctors in Kent sculpted the ear from his rib.

He then underwent a number of surgeries at the Great Ormond Street Hospital where the doctors harvested cartilage from his rib and sculpted a new ear, though he is still deaf. Commenting on his surgery, Sean said that it was fun to go to school looking like Smurf.
“The surgery didn’t worry me. It was fun when I came into school wearing a big white bandage and looking like a Smurf. The only thing I don’t like is that most people’s ears are quite flappy, but mine isn’t. They had to make it rigid”, he said.
