Born as a Woman, Yet Identifies as a Man, Now in a Court Battle to be Legal Father of His Biological Child

This is a case of a person born as a woman in Berlin, with female reproductive organs, yet identifies as a man.

This transgender had undergone hormone treatment to become a male. Now, he identifies himself as a man.

The man in question has a biological child, born in April this year. He took the assistance of a midwife during childbirth as hospitals in Germany ask for the name of the mother in the documents.

In his opinion, although he gave birth to the child, he is a man and therefore the child does not have a mother.

The authorities in the hospital do consider him as the mother of the child as he gave birth, although he is listed as a man. The courts have taken up this case in April but the decision is yet to be made whether the man is to be registered as the father, rather than the mother of the child.
