The University of Adelaide will be launching a new study that will look into the benefits of nutritional supplements and small doses of hormones to elderly people.

Over 200 elderly people over the age of 65 years will be taking part in the study with the university keen to rope in those who are still receiving care in their own homes.
“In older people there is a strong relationship between hospitalization and the later development of disabilities. If we can address this problem, the costs to the community and the individual could be reduced drastically”, Professor Chapman said, adding that the mortality rate among elderly could fall by 34 percent if proper nutrition supplements are given.
