In Surat, authorities have made and put on exhibit a magnificent miniature replica of the iconic Taj Mahal adorned with diamonds and gold, to be auctioned for charity.

"The diamonds of the replica of Taj Mahal have been sponsored by a Thailand-based company. 50,000 diamonds have been used in the making of this miniature. Other than that, gold, silver, plywood, plaster of Paris (POP) have also been used," said a diamond trader, Rajiv Joshi.
The replica has been put on display in a sparkling exhibition. It is plated with more than 20 kilograms of silver and one and half kilograms of gold.
The 8-foot-high miniature has been valued at millions of rupees and a businessman has offered to buy it for more than 10 million rupees.
The fund collected from the auction will be used for a charitable cause.
As per authorities, a research team visited the Taj Mahal in northern Agra city to record the intricate details of the monument to use them in the making of its replica.
