Apollo inaugurates centre for back and neck pain

Apollo Hospitals recently launched a one crore documentation based care (DBC) centre project in Chennai for back and neck pain management, claimed to be the first of its kind in the country. Dr Pratap Reddy, chairman of Apollo Hospitals told the press that DBC, a revolutionary concept resulting from over 25 years of international research, is patented by the noted specialist Dr Simo Taimela of Finland who has already set up 55 such centres across the world.

Dr Taimela felt that the concept uses the latest course to chronic pain management called evidence-based medicine and makes use of special proprietory software and analysis models to devise individual treatment profiles for patients. Reddy said it was planned to launch similar centres in Delhi and Hyderabad in the near future and other key metros later. He said that it was estimated that four out of every five people suffer from back pain which was the single largest reported lifestyle related disorder.
