Down Syndrome Association's 16th Annual Buddy Walk to be Held in August 21

The society established event in 1995 to celebrate Down syndrome awareness month in October and to promote acceptance and inclusion of people with Down syndrome.

The society established ‘Buddy Walk’ in 1995 to celebrate Down syndrome awareness month in October and to promote acceptance and inclusion of people with Down syndrome.

Down Syndrome is a congenital disorder among children commonly born to older mothers. The condition is also known as ‘Up syndrome’ because of the cheerful persona of the Down children.

The 16th Annual Colorado Springs Down Syndrome Association Buddy Walk will be held in August 21 in Colorado Springs.

The event, which is sponsored in part by FOX21 News, will be emceed by FOX21 morning anchor Craig Coffey. The Buddy Walk is also supported nationally by the local level by parent support groups such as the CSDSA, schools and other organizations and individuals.

Since inception, the Buddy Walk program has grown from 17 walks to more than 300 across the country and around the world.
