Breech Presentation and Delivery - Glossary
Breech Presentation - Birth in which the baby comes out feet, knees or buttocks first.Aneuploidy - Change in the number of chromosomes that can lead to a chromosomal disorder.
Caesarian Section - Surgery to deliver a fetus from the uterus.
External cephalic version - A manual procedure where the doctor attempts to move a breech baby into the typical head-down position for birth.
Fetus - The developing baby from the end of the eighth week of pregnancy until birth.
Grand multipara - A woman who has given birth seven or more times.
Labor - Regular contractions of the uterus that result in dilation and effacement of the cervix.
Placenta - Tissue that provides nourishment to and takes away waste from the fetus.
Preterm Labor - Labor that starts before the 37th week of pregnancy.
Uterus - A muscular organ located in the female pelvis that contains and nourishes the developing fetus during pregnancy.
