Antepartum: The period of pregnancy between 24 weeks gestation and termPlacenta: Organ formed during pregnancy which has many important functions, especially transfer of oxygen and nutrients from mother to fetus
Preterm delivery: Delivery before 37 weeks gestation
Hemoglobin: Protein found in red cells that transports oxygen to tissues and removes carbon dioxide
Hemoglobin test: Test that measures the amount of hemoglobin in the red cells. It is decreased in anemia (low red cell count) due to various causes
Hematocrit: Test that measures the volume of red cells in relation to total blood volume. It is expressed as percentage
Stillbirth: Birth of a baby that has died in the womb after 28 weeks of gestation
Trimester: Duration of three months, especially in relation to pregnancy
