How it should be taken
It comes as a solution for injection to be administered by a healthcare provider either into the vein or into a large muscle.
It is also available in solution and powder form (for oral inhalation). Inhale as directed by your physician.
Dosage & When it is to be taken
IV/IM- The recommended dosage for both adults and pediatric patients 6 years of age and older is 1 single-use ampule (300 mg) administered two times per day for 28 days.
Capsule- 28 mg twice daily for 28 days using the Podhaler device.
When it is not to be taken (Contraindications)

Why it is prescribed (Indications)
This medication is an aminoglycoside antibiotic, prescribed for the management of cystic fibrosis. It eliminates bacteria that cause many kinds of infections.
Warnings and Precautions Caution should be exercised in patients with history of myasthenia gravis, Parkinson disease, hearing, nerve or kidney problems, burns, dehydration, low blood minerals, any allergy, who are taking other medications, elderly, children, during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
It may lead to dehydration, drink adequate fluid.
Avoid long-term use of this medication; otherwise it will cause secondary infection.
Take full course of treatment and avoid excess dosage.
Monitor kidney function, hearing tests, blood electrolyte levels regularly while taking this medication.
Storage Conditions Store it in refrigerator (2-8ºC), and in an airtight container. Do not freeze it.
