How to Take Psoralen (PUVA) and it's Dose


It comes as a tablet to take orally and lotion to apply topically, with food.

Dosage & When it is to be taken

The recommended dose is 20 mg or up to 600 mcg/kg 2-4 hour before measured periods of sunlight or UVA exposure twice weekly or on alternate days, with at least 48-hour intervals between doses.

When it is not to be taken (Contraindications)

Contraindicated in patients with skin cancer, children and hypersensitivity.

This medication is also called as PUVA, a natural product, prescribed for eczema, psoriasis, vitiligo and mycosis fungoides.
