Why is Rivastigmine Prescribed? (Indications)
This medication is a reversible non-competitive inhibitor of acetylcholinestrace, prescribed for mild to moderate dementia in patients with Alzheimer's or Parkinson's disease. It prevents the breakdown of a chemical called acetylcholine.
When should Rivastigmine not to be taken? (Contraindications)
Hypersensitivity.What is the dosage of Rivastigmine ?
The starting dose (rivastigmine tartrate) is 1.5 mg twice a day (BID).
How should Rivastigmine be taken?
It comes as a capsule to take by mouth, with or without food.

*Caution should be exercised in patients with history of kidney problems, certain heart problems, seizures, stomach or bowel problems, lung or breathing problems, urinary blockage, any allergy, who are taking other medications, during pregnancy and breastfeeding.*It may cause dizziness, drowsiness, or fainting, do not drive a car or operate machinery while taking this medication.
