New cells are produced by bone marrow transplants faster than cord blood transplants. Chances of developing complications are increased if production of stem cells is slow by bone marrow stem cells.

Obese patients can be treated by bone marrow transplants, as multiple units of cord blood is required for obese people.

Multiple units of stem cells can be collected from bone marrow. However, only one unit of cord blood is available from each donor.

I think that you could not live without stem cells. if you loose some cells your stem cells can replace them so that you don't die.
