Reiki for Memory Improvement

The exam fever among students increases the constant flow of adrenaline (a hormone). While adrenaline is good to drive us into action continued secretion can exhaust us and suck all our energy.

Reiki empowers the seven chakras that are connected to the endocrine system of the body that release the small amount of hormones. The hormones play an important role in our daily activity and are the chemicals that can swing our moods from keeping us feel happy or sad, lethargic or be aggressive. Keeping the hormones well balanced keeps our state of mind calm and in better control and helps us focus better; especially if students are expected to give their best performance over many days.

To understand how Reiki helps in improving our memory one has to understand the role of seven chakras and how they help.

Seven Chakras

1. Root or mooladhara Chakra based at the end of the spine corresponds to Adrenal gland. This gland controls a person’s health by maintaining healthy kidneys, quality blood and good growth.

2. Hara or Swadhishthana chakra corresponds to gonads, which controls bladder, uterus, sexual organs and kidneys.

3. Manipura Chakra or Solarplexes corresponds to pancreas which controls stomach, intestines, liver, heart and lungs.

4. Heart Chakra or Anahata Chakra corresponds to Thymus which controls thymus gland, circulatory system and heart.

5. Throat Chakra or Vishuddhi Chakra corresponds to thyroid gland, which controls throat, neck, arms, hands, mouth and tongue.

6. Third eye Chakra or Ajna chakra corresponds to pituitary gland which controls nose, ears, nervous system, hypothalamus and eye.

7. Crown Chakra or Sahasrara Chakra corresponds to pineal gland which controls upper brain and right eye.

There are overall two Reiki techniques that can help students during the exams:

1. If one is attuned to Reiki they can invoke Reiki and just place his two palms on the closed eyes or the third eye, heart and Solar Plexus chakras for about 10 to 15 minutes every day during exams. This improves memory power and increases concentration.

2. Reiki practitioners make use of visualization technique, which is very useful for the students to keep them relaxed during the examination period. Students have to simply shut their eyes, sit quietly for 10 to 15 minutes visualizing brilliant white light passing through the Sahasrar Chakra clearing the cloud in the mind. Let this light pass through all other chakras too, so that at the end of the exercise the student is bound to get up with refreshed mind. This exercise helps the student to take in more and more information with increased retention power. This is part of Reiki Meditation technique and can be practised either in the morning or in the evening for best results.
