Who is Good at Recognizing Baby’s Cry – Father or Mother ?
Who is better at recognizing baby’s cry – mom or dad? Contrary to popular belief that mothers are better at spotting their baby’s cry, French researchers found that both mum and dad are equally good at recognizing it.
A new study seems to suggest that both men and women are equally good at recognizing their baby’s cry in direct contrast to two earlier insights which had said that women are doubly accurate at recognizing the cries of their offspring as compared to men.

Experiments carried out by researchers revealed that parents recognized the cry of their baby accurately 90% of the time. Mothers were found to be 95% accurate, whereas fathers who spent more than four hours with the baby were 90 percent accurate in recognizing their child’s cry. Fathers who spent less than four hours were right in spotting the cry of their baby 75% of the time.

"Both fathers and mothers can reliably and equally recognize their own baby from their cries. The only crucial factor affecting this ability is the amount of time spent by the parent with their own baby."
