Community Service at Lincoln County, to serve mentally ill

by Medindia Content Team on Mar 14 2006 9:11 PM

Lincoln County will now have a single community service dedicated to the mentally ill. Four teams have come together, as a synergy, to be of assistance to mentally ill and their families.

Fort Logan Comprehensive Care, Frontier Rehabilitation, Bluegrass Impact South and the Learning Garden have got together as Bluegrass Regional Mental Health/Mental Retardation Board, Inc.

Luna Gooch clinical coordinator of Fort Logan Comprehensive Care and a therapist, said "Overall, it's been a really good thing for our clients. It allows for better coordination of services."

Even though they are housed in separate buildings, the services will come under the main banner of Bluegrass Regional Mental Health Board. This is a non-profit organization catering to 17 counties with mental health, mental retardation, developmental disabilities and substance abuse services. The programs imparted by each of these centers will be exclusive, but will probably have common clients.
