A Cicero woman apparently kidnapped a couple’s 26 day old baby from a Stroger Hospital clinic and took to her heels, according to authorities. The woman is now in police custody.

Aurelia Gonzalez, charged with aggravated kidnapping had appeared before Judge Raymond Myles of the criminal court. The kidnapping took place after Gonzalez sought permission from the baby’s father to hold the baby, after which she simply fled the scene with the baby.

The police sent out an alert message and a hunt was launched, after which they located Gonzalez, 32, close to St.Luke's Medical Center. Thankfully, the baby was not harmed or injured.

"She was looking strange, so security confronted her," said Don Rashid, a Stroger Hospital spokesman. "She ran again, then ran into a physician, and then was arrested. The child is back with the parents," Rashid said.
