After the vocal demonstrations in hospitals against reservation policy there is yet another demonstration the hospital has to face. This time it is by the staff and the venue is the Medical College Hospital (MCH). The bone of contention is the incident wherein some RSS people unleashed violence in the casualty ward. The administration now is taking steps to check overcrowding of the wards.
The demonstrations against the incident are many. The spearheads are Kerala Government Medical College Teachers' Association (KGMCTA) who have taken string reaction to this and want that the staff have safe conditions and environment to work.

The doctors have responded by the call to shut the casualty wing function from 8 a.m. on July 1; this in view if proper steps are not taken.
A joint meeting of all staff and administration concerned decided that stoppage of entry for some would be the answer to the problem. Unrestricted entry would have to be sacrificed.
The problem is that such incidents have taken place earlier but no action was taken. Rs.2 is the fee for an entry pass. The people enter needed or not and this is what is the problem for smooth functioning of patient care, administration and teaching activities in a big way. The demands of the KGMCTA are tight security system, one person allowed to stay back with every patient in the wards from 8 a.m. till 2 p.m, no funeral processions from the hospital campus and autorickshaws parking on campus disallowed.
