Teens Warned About the Dangers of Sexting
Teens commonly communicate by texting, and this form of communication is witnessing an upward trend.
What is worrying is the communication of sexually explicit messages, videos, and photos also called sexting which is also showing an alarming increase, jeopardizing teen safety.

It is important that teens and parents educate themselves about the consequences of sexting .

Parents have been advised to access the interactive website called textEd.ca to understand the dangers of sexting and appreciate texting ethics which will go a long way in ensuring safety of teens.

"Adolescent behaviour is less inhibited with the use of technology, so they tend to say and do things that they might not otherwise do in person," said Lianna McDonald, executive director of the Canadian Centre for Child Protection.

"While technology allows today's youth to connect with each other in amazing ways, when it is misused, disrespected or abused it can lead to difficult situations and consequences.”

"TextED.ca will help teach teens how to use technology safely and to know what to do when someone crosses the line."
