
The level of preparedness of Uttar Pradesh for the annual epidemic of Acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES) and Japanese Encephalitis (JE) was discussed by Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare, J P Nadda and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, Akhilesh Yadav, on Friday.
According to a release by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Nadda and Yadav discussed various health programmes being undertaken in the state, especially in the Gorakhpur, Siddarthnagar, Basti, Khushi Nagar and Maharajganj districts of east UP.
The minister also spoke of the 'Mission Indradhanush', which aims to cover all unvaccinated children against seven preventable diseases: diphtheria, whooping cough, tetanus, polio, tuberculosis, measles and hepatitis B, by 2019.
