According to a study conducted by the researchers at the University of Vienna it was found that sharing a bed diminishes the man's ability to think clearly.
The lead researcher Professor Gerhard Kloesch analysed about eight unmarried, childless couples in their 20s. They were asked to share their beds and on the next day they were asked to perform a simple cognitive test. It was found that women were fresher than men even when both slept the same number of hours. The researcher said that sharing a bed with a partner temporarily confuses men’s brains and increases the stress hormone levels. On the other hand women do not suffer from this problem.Men have disturbed sleep whether they make love or not. The results of the study were reported in New Scientist magazine. Men kept turning, tossing and snoring which indicated that they had disturbed sleep whereas women slept more deeply. Professor Dr Neil Stanley, a sleep expert at the University of Surrey said that women are pre-programmed to cope better with broken sleep. This is because they face a lot of disturbance in their sleep during various phases of their life during the menstrual cycle, bringing up children and the menopause stage.
