Medanta Healthcare to Focus On Eradicating Tuberculosis from Uttar Pradesh
Medanta, a multi-specialty healthcare group will pitch in to make UP a TB-free state. Group MD Dr Naresh Trehan said that the decision was taken during a meeting after Medanta Awadh's foundation stone-laying ceremony.

Dr Naresh Trehan is on the national committee working towards TB eradication in India. The others on the committee are Business tycoon Ratan Tata, filmstar Amitabh Bachchan and US Ambassador to India Richard Verma.

Dr Naresh Trehan feels proud to say that the roots of his success are in Lucknow. A 1968 pass-out from King George's Medical University, Dr Trehan said, "I am returning to Lucknow what it gave me."

In a year's time Medanta Awadh would get a out-patient department. "The Empire State Building was made in 11 months; a strong will can achieve any target," Trehan told. He added that they aimed at starting in-patient services in 18 months' time as well. He also indicated that satellite centers of Medanta are likely to come up in other parts of UP if the Lucknow model takes off well.
