Only five per cent of left-handers feel they are at a disadvantage in learning to drive, the poll revealed.

The study also revealed that 27 per cent of the total polled believed that cars were designed with right-handers in mind.

"Scientists have hypothesized for years that left-handers are quicker to learn," The Sun quoted Simon Douglas, director of the AA Driving School, as saying.
