It is a Myth That Women are Weak in Math
It is often believed that when it comes to math, boys may outwit girls. And when it comes to languages, the girls have an edge over boys.
Recent study of tribes in India has shown that the difference in mathematical abilities among men and women is not genetic but due to the way both sexes are brought up.

During the study researchers from University of California, San Diego, studied genetically similar but culturally different tribes from Karbi and Khasi. The Karbi tribe is dominated by males and the females receive less schooling as compared to men.

But in the Khasi tribe, both men and women are equally educated.

When the study subjects from both tribes were given aptitude tests, there was very little difference in the mathematical ability of both men and women in the Khasi tribe. Among the Karbi tribe men were able to solve puzzles 36 % faster. This is because men were more educated then women.

Therefore, it is a myth that women are weak in math. Despite securing high grades in math as compared to men, many women opt for easier subjects due to circumstances and not due to their ability in the subject.
