In Vitro Fertilization in Demand

by Rajashri on Jul 28 2008 2:27 PM

Even as the world's first test tube baby celebrated her 30th birth last week, the process through which she was conceived has seen a boom. Lousie Brown was delivered by C-section through IVF devised by Robert Edwards and Patrick Steptoe from Cambridge University.

In vitro fertilization has become a boon for couples unable to have kids. Since 1978 some 3.5 million babies have been born through IVF and most of the cases involve women aged between 30 and 40.

However there are some dangers to the method as well and couple must take into account these dangers before opting for IVF.
