High-Earners More Likely to Go on Boozing Binges
A new report compiled using stats from the NHS Information Centre has revealed that high earners and middle aged people are more prone to going on drinking binges compared to those with lower incomes.
Nearly a third of high earning men and 17 percent of high earning females drank more frequently compared with 17 percent of lower income men and 11 percent of lower income women.

The report also revealed that high earners regularly drank more than the maximum limit with more than 85 percent men and 72 percent women drinking heavily at least once in the last week compared to 54 percent men and 47 percent women with lower incomes.

More than 33 percent of men and 17 percent of women between the age of 55 to 64 years drank frequently compared to just 11 percent men and 4 percent of women between 16 to 24 years of age.

Commenting on the report, the chief executive of the NHS Information Centre, Tim Straughan, said, “They show that a greater percentage in the richest households drink frequently than those in the poorest and that drinking more than twice the recommended levels on at least one day in the previous week is common irrespective of financial status.”
