Come February 2008, smokers will have it tough, to fight reality staring at them in the form of graphic pictures, depicting the potential damage smoking can cause!
This move is taking shape after the Government gave the go ahead for the use of images on cigarette packets. The type of graphics planned will be pictures of diseased lungs, decaying teeth, gangrenous toes that will pack the punch to warn smokers against the habit.

Associate Health Minister Damien O'Connor is hopeful that the warnings will achieve the intended purpose of reducing the number of smokers. ASH, the anti-smoking group is extremely happy with the Government’s move and feels the date of commencement of the pictorial warnings should be advanced.
