The Food Safety and Standards Authority in India has revealed that the safety standards of honey manufactured in the country are similar to those in the European countries.

This statement follows a study by the Centre for Science and Environment (CSE), which said that some leading brands of honey manufactured in India had unacceptably high levels of antibiotics in them.
The FSSAI advisory issued today also touched on other parameters of honey manufactured in India including colour of honey. It added that standards of honey are laid down in the Grading and Marking Rules (AGMARK) as well.
