Fear of Seeing an Aged Look Prevents Us from Looking at Ourselves in the Mirror as We Turn 45

Fear of seeing an aged look makes people start avoiding looking at themselves in the mirror as they turn 45, says a new study. While on the other hand, 51 per cent of 18 to 24 year olds look at their reflection 10 times a day.

The figure declines to 44 per cent for Britons between 25 and 34, and to 33 per cent for those aged 35 to 44.

And when we hit middle age, from 45 to 54, it tumbles to just 9.4 per cent.

More than a quarter of those aged 45 and above state that they cannot stand to see their reflection because 'it's not nice seeing yourself age', the Daily Mail reported.

Cosmetic surgery group 'Transform' conducted the survey of 3,000 people and found that a seventh of middle-aged Britons checked their reflection no more than once a day.

The figures also reveal that young women are far more worried about ageing than men, with 32 per cent dreading getting older, compared to only 12 per cent of young men.
