 Are You Agitated? Eat Dark Chocolate to Calm Down
A recent study has revealed that eating dark chocolate can actually have a calming effect by promoting feelings of satisfaction and contentment.

Researchers from Swinburne University of Technology found that polyphenols in dark chocolate are found to induce positive feelings and increase calmness and contentedness.

Polyphenols are a blessing as it helps in lowering oxidative stress which is associated with many diseases.

"Anecdotally, chocolate is often linked to mood enhancement. This clinical trial is perhaps the first to scientifically demonstrate the positive effects of cocoa polyphenols on mood."

During the study, effects of drinking cocoa on participants were judged and the results revealed that participants who drank a high dose of cocoa reported elevated levels of calmness and contentedness than those who consumed a lower dose or did not take at all.

This research may help develop a cocoa therapy for those with clinical anxiety or depression.
