Woman Dies of Swine Flu in Mumbai, Toll Reaches 8
A 27-year-old woman from Kurla died of swine flu at the civic-run Sion hospital on Wednesday, taking the toll in Mumbai to eight this year.
Dr Mangala Gomare, chief of epidemiology cell, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said that the patient had diabetes, which is one of the conditions common in many patients who have died of H1N1 infection this year. “She came very late to the hospital. She had the symptoms for over a week, but delayed getting treated,” he said.

The deceased was initially treated at a local hospital from where she was shifted to Sion hospital on Sunday, after her condition worsened, doctors said. Experts said people should rule out the possibility of swine flu, if they have fever, cold, running nose, and body ache among other symptoms. The city has reported a total of 959 H1N1 positive cases this year.
