Restless Legs Syndrome - Historical Facts
'Restless Legs' was decribed by Karl-Axel Ekbom in 1945. He published eight case histories.
The Restless Legs Syndrome has also been known as the Ekbom syndrome, the Wittmaack-Ekbom syndrome, or anxietas tibialis.
As far back as 1622 – 1675, Thomas Willis (1622-1675) and Theodor Wittmaack mentioned and described this condition. George Miller Beard (1839-1883) also gave description of the disease and its symptoms.
