Around 15 million Americans who suffer from heartburn, ulcers and acid reflux are prescribed with proton-pump inhibitors that bring relief by reducing gastric acid. Serious kidney problems were found to be associated while taking popular heartburn drugs for prolonged periods of time, finds a study from Washington University in St.Louis.
