The analogs of potent anti-tumor agents called Epothilones has been recently developed and evaluated by a research team from the Rice University. K.C. Nicolaou, Rice synthetic organic chemist, introduced substances that were similar in their cancer-fighting mechanism to paclitaxel. Most of the compounds that were developed by dozens of variations that were created exhibit potent cytotoxicities against certain cancer cells. This includes a drug-resistant cell line.
