Make Use of Social Media to Inspire Teens to Fight Obesity
Nearly 95% of adolescents are internet savvy and are active on social networking sites. The American heart association has said that it would be a good idea to use social media to convey the importance of healthy weight management in the teenage years, with steps to prevent childhood obesity. Social media can be a good tool in bringing about healthy behavioural changes. The fact that friends are mostly part of groups which have like-minded people or those that have similar characteristics , this should be enough reason to get talking about childhood obesity and ways to prevent it. For instance, an overweight person might gravitate towards friends and groups of people with similar problems. If one is influenced to lose weight and eat healthy, he can inspire his group and thus gradually the whole group could be working towards a positive change in their lives.
