October is Blood Donation Month in UP
October will be celebrated as the month of blood donation in Uttar Pradesh with health officials revealing that a number of blood donation camps will be conducted throughout the month.

While October 1 is being celebrated as the Voluntary Blood Donation Day, the district magistrate in Allahabad said that just 18 percent of those donating blood in the district do in voluntarily, adding that more steps need to be taken in order to urge people to donate their blood freely.

District Magistrate Sanjay Prasad said that all those who donate blood will be given a blood donor card and said that the health department will be contacting various NGOs in the district and get their help in organizing the donation camps.
