Woman Gives Birth to Own Grandchild

A 61-year old Illinois resident gave birth to her own grandchild after agreeing to act as a surrogate mother to her daughter. Kristine Casey is possibly the oldest woman in Illinois to give birth and follows another 61-year old who had given birth to her own grandchild back in 2008 in Japan. Casey came to her 35-year old daughter, Sara Connell’s rescue after she once delivered stillborn twins and also had a miscarriage.

Casey underwent stringent physical and psychological examinations before starting on a hormone therapy that prepared her uterus for the pregnancy. Casey revealed that she got pregnant on the second cycle of in vitro fertilization with an embryo transfer before giving birth to her grandson, Finnean Lee Connell, through a Caesarian section.

“From the very beginning, the moment I’ve wanted is the moment the baby is in their arms”, Casey said after the operation.
