Makers of vitamin water health drinks have found themselves in hot water after a consumer watchdog complained to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC)

Instead such drinks can prove to be harmful for people since they also contain other ingredients such as fructose or other forms of sugar and amount to more than 125 calories.
“Two-thirds of Americans are overweight or obese; the last thing people need is sugar water with vitamins you could get from eating a healthy diet, or by taking a vitamin pill. These advertising claims are not only untrue; they constitute a public health menace. Stopping these vitamin water claims, which contradict information by the Centers for Disease Control and other public health authorities, should be a top FTC priority”, NCL Executive Director Sally Greenberg said.
