Mental Health is National Wealth

Australia: The national economy goes flip flop due to a variety of reasons. Mental Health is one of them. It is estimated that the economic outlay for mental healthcare is to the tune of $21billion annually.

The mentally ill touch rock bottom because of unemployment, family troubles, crime and suicide attempts. The quality of mental health care needs to be spruced up especially for the children, prisoners and those without homes, which would translate into huge cost-savings for the nation.

The government would do well to increase the budget for mental health, and to be able to track down the mentally ill, so that necessary care can be provided. Presently, the mental health system is way off the expectation, and those who are in need of care are not getting it.
