A study on manslaughter by doctors in UK, says that many were convicted since 1990’s, and in 2004 a surgeon named Steven Walker was found to be convicted but the Journal of the Royal Society of Medicine, found that conviction was low.
Due to vengeance and retribution, Birmingham City Hospital researchers found 85 doctors had been charged with manslaughter since 1795.Because of vaginal wound and the doctor was drunken, a woman died after delivering her baby.In 20th century it results more due to use of powerful drugs.
Researchers studied over 200 years, and finds nearly 60 doctors were acquitted compared to 22 recorded convictions. A 37 cases were found with mistakes in the procedures.
Dr Robin Ferner, from a study concluded that many doctors were charged with manslaughter rises steadly since 1990s.But the rate of conviction remained slow.
Due to wrong procedure followed for a patient with catastrophic blood loss, surgeon Steven Walker was alleged in 2004 and received a 21-month suspended jail sentence.
Added to it, Ian Barker, a solicitor with the Medical Defence Union, says many were from system failure and individual errors.
