The government hospitals in Delhi were once again buzzing with activity today following resumption of duties by resident doctors , who called off their nearly three-week-long anti-quota strike late last night.
The battered basic health services were showing signs of normalcy with patients thronging the OPD wings in All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Safdarjung, Maulana Azad Medical College, Ram Manohar Lohia and other hospitals and being attended to by the doctors.Long queues were seen at Safdarjung hospital while the mood was similar at AIIMS, which was the main venue of the strike against the Centre's proposal to introduce 27 per cent reservation for OBCs in premier educational intitutions.
'We are returning to duty and things will get back to normal within 24 hours,' Dr Vinod Patra, Presdient of AIIMS Resident Doctors Association, said.
Junior doctors of AIIMS, MAMC, Lady Hardinge Medical College, University College of Medical Sciences and Vardhman Mahavir Medical College had called off their anti-quota strike late last night following the apex court's order to resume duties immediately.
'The resident doctors have already started to join back last night itself,' V K Das, Public Relations Officer of Safdurjang hospital told PTI.
Medicos in Delhi government hospitals have already resumed work yesterday.
