Two Australians Accused Of Abusing Teenager For Eight Years

A ghastly story of sexual abuse of a 16-year-old boy for over eight years has surfaced in Australia. Two persons in their sixties have been charged with repeatedly raping him and passing him around in a paedophile ring. The abuse incidents are said to have taken place between 1979 and 1988.

Police spokesman Troy Deighton said the two faced as many as 255 charges - one slapped with 141 charges, including 72 counts of indecency against a male under 16 years, and the other 144 charges.

The alleged victim, now 38, first sought help and counselling two years ago with support group Bravehearts.

Last year, he reported the offences to police, who formed Strikeforce Lighthorse to investigate the alleged incidents.

"It's been a very difficult journey for this person, and it's a significant step forward for them to come to police," Sex Crimes Squad commander Detective Superintendent John Kerlatec said.

"The allegations of what took place (against) this victim are horrendous."

Police investigations are continuing and more arrests are expected.

Sources say the pedophile ring included the late Dunn, who pleaded guilty to two dozen sex offences in 2001 and died in prison last year.

Dunn, a science teacher, was one of the nation's worst pedophiles and began offending in the 1960s.

In August 1987, police raided a Chippendale house in Sydney's inner west occupied by Dunn and another pedophile, Brian Thomas Wain. Inside, they found a 15-year-old boy wearing only underpants and pornographic videos of other boys, but Dunn and Wain paid the police a $40,000 bribe and escaped charges.

When summoned to give evidence at a police royal commission in 1996, Dunn fled to Asia. A year later, he was tracked down by journalists. In 2001, he was sentenced to 30 years in jail, later reduced to 20 years on appeal, and died in prison.
