Teen Who Battled Cancer Succumbed In Tragic Road Accident
An inquest in Britain heard how a 19-year old girl, who had received an all clear from cancer just a month ago, lost her life in an accident that saw a car travel 115mph in a 30mph zone.
The inquest, held at Bradford, West Yorkshire, heard how Jade Best was traveling with two friends, Adam Ruthven, 27, and Danny Hague, 32, on September 16 last year when Ruthven, who was driving the car, lost control and it skidded and smashed into a hairdressing saloon. Both Ruthven and Hague also died on the accident scene despite frantic efforts by paramedics to save their lives.

Best had been diagnosed with cancer but had recently been told that she had managed to beat it through chemotherapy. Best had also celebrated her 19th birthday just a few days before and was traveling with Ruthven and Hague in a black Mitsubishi Evolution car with both Ruthven and Hague above the drink drive limit, which could have played a part in Ruthven losing control of the vehicle.

“Mr Ruthven knew the area well and was well aware of the speed limit. His speed was excessive and frightening to those who had seen the car that evening. You have lost loved ones at an early age, and for this I am very sorry”, Coroner Tim Ratcliffe said.
